There are “no plans” for a bank holiday to label the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Downing Street has said.

The possibility of an additional day off had reigned social media reaction to information of their engagement.

But the decision lies with the government, which “says hes” “isn’t a precedent in this area”.

A bank holiday was certified in all areas of the UK in 2011 for the bridal of Harry’s elder friend Prince William to Kate Middleton.
